Douglas County Sheriff’s Citizen Patrol Press Release
For immediate release
The civilian eyes and ears of the Sheriff’s Office is growing.
Recently, our volunteer Patrol Officers and Report Writers who work ever so diligently with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office have established a new IRC 501(c)3 charitable, non-profit corporation now known as the “Douglas County Sheriff’s Citizen Patrol, Inc.”
Douglas County Sheriff’s Citizen Patrol volunteers are dedicated to provide the citizens of our community with a liaison for services in partnership with the Sheriff’s Office thereby allowing our Deputies to concentrate on critical law enforcement duties and creating relationships that build trust, a safe environment for citizens and enhance the quality of life in our community. Services the volunteers provide include, but are not limited to conducting residential vacation checks, vehicle identification number (VIN) verification, handicap parking enforcement, lost and found property, and the reporting of same to the Sheriff’s Department. We also provide staffing for various special activities (i.e., traffic control, crime scene perimeter security, public events, etc.) conducted in Douglas County that again, free up our hard-working Deputies for more pressing matters.
